It is a colorless alcoholic
liquor which was originally distilled as a fermented cane product such as
molasses or sugar cane. The combination of yeasts used for fermentation,
the distillation method, aging conditions, and the blending determine

(white) or dark color but is especially associated with the Caribbean.

Rum - Captain Morgan
Captain Morgan is a brand of rum, named after the 17th-century Caribbean
pirate, Captain Henry Morgan, who produced rum in Jamaica in 1680. The
Seagram Company started producing rum under the name Captain Morgan Rum
Company in 1944. Captain Morgan is now produced by Diageo.
Malibu
Rum
Malibu is a Caribbean rum made in Barbados with natural coconut extract
and then bottled in Scotland. Malibu was first made in 1895. There are
now variations on the original flavour including Malibu Mango, Malibu Passionfruit and Malibu Pineapple.
Bacardi
Bacardi was originally during the 1800's by a wealthy wine seller called
Don Facundo who had settled in Cuba. After the Cuban Revolution in 1959,
the Bacardi company left Cuba for the Bahamas. It has carried the
Bacardi Bat Device as its symbol since 1862.
Cruzan
Rum
The Cruzan Rum Distillery was founded in 1760 at St. Croix in the US
Virgin Islands. Many visitors take a tour of the Curzan distillery when
visiting the Virgin Islands.
Tortuga
Rum
Robert and Carlene Hamaty started the Tortuga Rum Company in 1984 with
two blended rums, Tortuga Gold and Tortuga Light. The Tortuga Company is
based on the Cayman Islands.
Parrot
Bay
Parrot Bay is a coconut flavored rum made by the Captain Morgan company.
Light Parrot Bay drinks are also flavored with mango, pineapple or
passion fruit.
Appleton
Rum
The Appleton Rum distillery is situated in Nassau Valley on the South
Coast of Jamaica. The Appleton Jamaican distillery was founded in 1749.
Bundaberg
Rum
Bundaberg is a dark Caribbean rum which is produced in Bundaberg,
Queensland, Australia. Bundaberg was developed in 1888 and is
colloquially known as 'Bundy'. The Polar Bear is the company mascot for
Bundaberg rum.
Pussers
Rum
Pussers Ltd was founded by Charles Tobias in 1979 on Tortola in the
British Virgin Islands. The word 'Pusser' is Naval slang for a purser or
ship's pay officer in the Royal Navy.
Havana
Club Rum
Havana Club is a Cuban brand of rum, made in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba.
Havana Club is owned by the government of Cuba.
Myers Rum
Myers Rum was founded Fred L Myers in 1879. Myers is a brand of Jamaican
rum produced by Diageo PLC.
Don Q Rum
Don Q is a brand
of Puerto Rican rum developed by the founder Juan Serralles
(c.1845-1921) in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Don Q was named after Don Quixote,
the legendary Spanish fictional character Don Quixote.
